Who We Are
Megaphone Virginia is the online outreach program of ProgressVA, a 501(c)(4) progressive communications hub.
Megaphone is our digital campaign dedicated to amplifying progressive messages and combatting disinformation in Virginia and beyond, all led by volunteers like you.
Now more than ever, we need to meet voters where they are at, which is increasingly online. People are losing trust in mainstream media and look to their friends and family for information. This presents an opportunity to harness the power of social media to spread trustworthy information through trusted interpersonal networks.
We are looking for volunteers of all capacities to engage in sharing content across social media platforms, engage in digital spaces, attend in-person events in their area, and advocate for policies we want in our communities. Our goal is to build a network of digital ambassadors that are committed to fighting for a more just and equitable Virginia.

Megaphone Program
The Megaphone Virginia program uses the web-based and mobile Megaphone App for volunteers to access a library full of progressive narratives and graphics to share across your networks.
Our team releases new content weekly engaging in awareness campaigns on particular issues, holding elected officials accountable, and combatting disinformation. In addition to the content available, we also provide toolkits with suggested post language as well as other resources to make the process clear and streamlined.
Whether you have 5 followers or 500, even if one person sees and shares your post, our reach will exponentially increase over time all because you took action.
Lastly, we hold regular workshops to train volunteers on our program, effective messaging, and also provide a space to build community with other people a part of our movement.
Our Megaphone App
Our Megaphone is a web-based and mobile app, available on desktop, iPhone, and Android, that helps us build strong progressive narratives and regularly share social media posts designed to engage a wide array of audiences. It is a database of graphics and other content focused on popular progressive issues that you can post along with our messaging guidance.
Once you’re in, you’ll have access to hundreds of different graphics that you can post to your social media accounts straight from the app.
The purpose of Our Megaphone is to start conversations on social media, change minds, and pave the way for progressive wins long into the future, as easily as possible.
